The club shall be called the Dacorum Fencing Club as affiliated Fencing Club of BFA.
It will be based at a suitable venue within the Hemel Hempstead area
The purpose of the club is to provide the opportunity for members and guests to learn and develop fencing skills throughout the year
There shall be three classes of membership:
Full – fully paid up member of the Dacorum Fencing Club. Full members have full voting rights.
Guest – persons holding full BFA membership who pay a nominated fee for a single night of membership of the club. Guests have no voting rights.
Honorary- granted as appropriate by the DFC Committee. No fees payable (except BFA Full Membership). An honorary member has full voting rights.
The officials of the club (President, Secretary, Treasurer, Member secretary, Child Welfare Officer, Club Member Representatives, Competition Coordinator, Coach Rep. Coaching Team Coordinator) shall be elected annually at the AGM and serve for one year. Each must stand for re-election each year. Once elected, the committee may co-opt onto the committee extra members as necessary
The AGM shall be held annually. A minimum of one month’s notice shall be given.
An EGM may be called by the club officials at one week’s notice
A meeting (AGM or EGM) is not quorate unless a minimum of two club officials and one full member is present
Minutes shall be taken at all AGM’s and EGM’s. These shall be made available to the members.
The Club shall have rules which may be varied by agreement of the committee. Any rule changes will be formally ratified at the AGM
The club constitution can only be altered through a resolution at an AGM or EGM
A resolution to dissolve the club can be made at either an AGM or an EGM. Should the resolution be carried, outstanding debts are to be cleared and any remaining funds (once refunds for unused weeks have been paid) will be available to the successor club
To be paid in advance of each term’s session by cheque, or on a monthly basis in advance by standing order. Fees and payment methods will be reviewed each year at the AGM. Non-payment of fees due will result in exclusion from the club.
The club is affiliated to the BFA and to conform to the requirements of the BFA insurance all members (full, guest or honorary) must have at least social membership of the BFA.
No fencer shall be permitted to fence unless they can prove BFA Membership.
All fencers must wear appropriate equipment for the weapon they are fencing. The coach’s decision is final in this matter. Minimum equipment is mask, glove, plastron, jacket, breeches, long socks and suitable shoes. No fencer shall be permitted to fence unless they meet the minimum standard. If necessary, clothing can be hired from the club.
Any club equipment lost or damaged through negligence shall be replaced by the member responsible for the loss / damage
All members shall complete a membership form each year in September (or when they join the club) and subsequently refresh it in the following September. we follow the GDPR Regulation.The General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union and the European Economic Area.
Committee meetings will be held three times per year. Any full member can formally raise an issue to the committee that will be discussed at the committee meeting. Minutes will be made available to all members who request them. Emergency Committee Meetings may be requested by at least three elected officials and require one week’s notice. Committee meeting (or ECM’s) are not quorate unless a minimum of three club officials is present.
